How do I prevent frozen pipes at my lake home during winter?
Proper winterization before the property sits vacant is the most reliable protection. This includes draining supply lines, blowing out the system, and turning off the main. For properties with heat kept on, pipe insulation in unconditioned spaces and smart leak detectors with automatic water main shutoffs provide a strong second line of defense. We offer seasonal winterization and spring startup services for Lake area vacation properties.
My lake home has galvanized water lines. Do I need to repipe?
Galvanized lines corrode from the inside and progressively restrict flow and water quality. Once you're seeing rust discoloration or losing significant water pressure, the lines are near end of life. A whole-home PEX repipe is typically a 2–3 day project and eliminates the risk of sudden line failure. We assess your system and give you an honest recommendation — many older lake homes are overdue.
